Baby Massage
Due to my starting of midwifery training, I am no longer able to offer Baby Massage classes myself, but I am happy to recommend the classes run by my good friend Lindsay Renwick.
While these classes are mainly Baby Massage, there is a lot of time and
emphasis given over to mothers talking. I look on them as a post natal support
group with baby massage; a chance to make friends, meet and share this intense
time of life. In addition to the massage skills you will learn, there is also an
excellent opportunity for you to make strong friendships with other mothers who
are at the same stage with their babies. The groups are 'closed' once they
start, and so provide a safe environment to discuss any anxieties you may be
feeling. Many mothers find this group has led to safe, strong friendships - some
groups from the massage classes are still meeting regularly years later!
Baby Massage is a wonderful way for mothers and babies to form powerful bonds in
your first few months together. During this course of four sessions you will
discover simple routines that will help you to nurture your baby through the
crucial first months of development. It can be used to:
build a loving bond with your baby
soothe and comfort a fractious child
promote relaxation and confidence
strengthen the cardiovascular and immune systems
aid digestion
improve co-ordination and posture
help you child maintain flexibility as he or she becomes more mobile
increase the health and vitality of children with special needs
